The Brain’s Role in Your Health
Have you ever wondered what is the master controller in your body?
Have you ever thought about what controls you thoughts?
It’s a no-brainer here folks…… Get it?? Come on, it doesn’t get any better than that… It’s your BRAIN. Your brain controls every function in your body through your nervous system.
Let’s break it down…
Now your body consists of 2 major divisions of the nervous system. The first is the central nervous system. Your brain, along with your spinal cord, make up this central nervous system. All the other nerves in your body, called spinal nerves, make up what is called the peripheral nervous system. With the central nervous system in communication with the peripheral nervous, your nervous system runs to every single muscle, organ, tissue and cell in the body. How incredible is that!
In fact, in Grey’s Anatomy textbook, it states your “nervous system controls and coordinates all organs and structures of the human body.”
There are sensory nerves to tell our brain what is happening internally and externally at all times. We have motor nerves which allow us to move, play, sing, dance….oh you get the point. We also have autonomic, meaning automatic, nerves that control the things we do not think about, like heart rate, blood vessels, gland activity, and all our other organs. So we see our nervous systems are responsible for creating harmony and balance in our bodies.
What does this mean for you?
You are probably reading this because you care about your health. Well, if our nervous system controls every function in our body, then it is also responsible for our immune function. Would you say true health is the body functioning at 50%? How about 80%? or even 90%? I do not know about you, but I go for the A+’s. True and optimal health is when our bodies are functioning at 100%. If our brains are not communicating with the rest of our bodies properly through the nervous system, we are not expressing true health.
The function of our nervous system, and thus our health, is determined in large by the state of our spine. Our spine has a very close relationship with the spinal cord. When there is dysfunction with the vertebrae in the spine, there is nervous system irritation on the spine and pressure throughout the system. Sometimes this can lead to tangible aches, pains and dysfunction in the body, but more than not, it leads to silent killers that cause a host of issues over time if left uncorrected. They are called subluxations. Subluxations interfere with the normal communication between your brain and your body, and limit the body’s potential for adaptation and optimal function.
How can chiropractic help improve nervous system function?
Chiropractors are the only profession in the world trained to locate and analyze these subluxations to determine the method of correction. The focus is to remove the stress causing the subluxations, which will lead to an optimally functioning nervous system, ultimately leading to true health and healing. Your nervous system holds incredible power and potential, do not let it be hindered by something that chiropractors have spent years correcting. Now is the time to take action and achieve true health while we are still blessed to have it. Get your nervous system checked today!
